Athens is a densely populated sprawling metropolis of history and culture. One of the best ways to see the city is to do a sightseeing tour. You can do this on your own or as I did, as an excursion from the cruise ship. Either way, there is plenty to see, including the Parliament building, the first Olympic stadium, countless museums and of course, the Parthenon.

TOP TIP - If you are dropped off by your coach to explore for a few hours make, sure you remember your pick up point. Athens is very built up and it is extremely easy to get lost if you are not familiar with the city.

TOP TIP - You probably don’t need me to remind you of this but it worth saying. In the Summer months it gets very hot so make sure you are sun screened up before you leave your ship.
